Nestled in the foothills overlooking the McLaren Vale is this rustic settler's cottage.

Built in the 1860's from local stone the walls are very thick and insulating. The floors are slate and the warming glow of Baltic pine timbers give a wonderful old world charm but the modern conveniences have not been forgotten.

Each of the spacious rooms has magnificent views over the surrounding vineyards or the park like garden.

This is real country style - lie back in your canopied cast iron bed and take in the views over the vines to the sea.

Take a long relaxing bath in the cast iron claw foot tub; whip up something healthy in the timber kitchen; curl up in front of the open wood fire with your best friend (or author).

You can sit out under the pergola with a glass of the local product and listen to the birds in the trees overhead; wander the old orchard and collect fruit or nuts in season.

If only everyday was like this.
